#HOWLFROMYOURHEART THIS GIVING DAY
Giving Day is an opportunity for all members of the Western Oregon University community to provide support for campus programs, funds, scholarships, organizations, and clubs. Each gift, no matter its size, makes a difference and provides critical resources for the university, enabling deeper and more meaningful campus experiences for countless current and future students, faculty, and staff.
Tuesday, March 4, 2025, is a day for everyone – alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents and friends of Western Oregon University – to #HowlfromtheHeart and build a brighter present and future for WOU.
Why Donate to Model UN?
The WOU Model United Nations Club is a political role-playing simulation in which students participate in conferences with other colleges and universities. Dedicated club members spend many hours learning about the United Nations, studying real-world problems, preparing to act on behalf of a country at conferences, and honing their diplomatic skills. This year, three WOU Model UN students will be chairing the International Organization for Migration (IOM) committee at the Model United Nations of the Far West conference in San Francisco in April and the club will be bringing three teams of students who will be playing the roles of France, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and Mongolia. They have all been diligently preparing for months. Students involved in Model UN not only gain insight into geopolitical problems and problem-solving but they also develop public speaking, writing, and research skills, and these skills are tested and refined at conferences. Students who participate in Model UN often go on to careers in public service, law, education, social work, and criminal justice, and many ultimately help shape policy at the state, local, and federal levels and become leaders in their communities. Help us raise $5,000 this year on Giving Day. Your gift helps to fund travel to Model UN conferences and to provide a $1,000 annual scholarship that is given to a deserving Model UN student each year. Founded in the 1950s, the Model UN Club is one of the longest-running clubs at WOU. Thanks to committed club members and generous donors, WOU students have been able to travel to many destinations in the United States, including New Orleans, San Francisco, St. Louis, and Los Angeles, as well as international conferences in London, Montreal, Vancouver, Paris, Geneva, Lausanne and Frankfurt.
