Giving Day is an opportunity for all members of the Western Oregon University community to provide support for campus programs, funds, scholarships, organizations, and clubs. Each gift, no matter its size, makes a difference and provides critical resources for the university, enabling deeper and more meaningful campus experiences for countless current and future students, faculty, and staff.
Tuesday, March 4, 2025, is a day for everyone – alumni, faculty, staff, students, parents and friends of Western Oregon University – to #HowlfromtheHeart and build a brighter present and future for WOU.
Your Gift Supports
The Writing Center has relocated to the library and we want to make it the innovative and comfortable space our students deserve.
We know, from student and faculty testimonies alike, how vital our Writing Center is to the intellectual and practical growth of WOU students. Now in its new location in the library, we envision a Writing Center space that continues all its vital work in a productive and comfortable learning environment.
We are imagining booth-like seating for private studying, movable whiteboard tables and chairs for group work, a reading nook, and a lounge area where students can gather with their friends, gather their thoughts and their notes, and simply take a break from sitting behind a desk. All with the goal of making the Writing Center a welcoming space where students can harness their creativity.
Hamersly Library is an important gathering place and campus resource for students, faculty, and community members. The addition of the Writing Center gives students even more access to academic, professional, and personal support and resources right in the heart of research and scholarship at WOU.

Unlock this Gift! Chelle Batchelor, Dean of Library and Academic Innovation has generously agreed to donate $1,800 to Hamersly Library if the library receives gifts from 15 donors.
